Hotel du Petit Moulin will reveal a different side to the Parisian art scene. Away from the gallery experiences of Le Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay and Le Centre Pompidou, the hotel is encouraging guests to explore the rich and varied street art of the quartier with a new partnership with Mon Beau Paris – one of the most exciting new ventures on the Paris tour scene for 2015.
Can you tell a genuine Banksy from a faux Bek Le Rat?
Guests will be armed with a polaroid camera to document their best finds – and become artists in their own right. The morning will finish with a champagne picnic in a secret Marais spot enabling guests to reflect on the impact of the art.
Guests will be able to enjoy a private art de rue tour through the winding streets of Le Marais, led by one of Mon Beau’s street art experts. The three hour tour will start early to avoid the crowds and explore the myriad of work that lines the streets – and is so often missed by the untrained eye. Works by artists including Yosh, Space Invaders, Clet Abraham, SOBR and GZUP will be included, as well as innovative works that pop up as the seasons change.
Just as some of Paris’ best contemporary art will reveal itself among the streets of the Marais during the tour, Hotel du Petit Moulin reveals itself as a truly artistic hotel. Appearances are deceiving here; with an exterior that suggests the building is a local boulangerie, inside each of the hotel’s 17 rooms is a Christian Lacroix masterpiece. While the building was once home to Paris’ first bakery (and even the original shop frontage remains), the hotel is now a work of art in its own right. Some rooms are bright and colourful, others more understated; all are totally theatrical and tell a different story of the Marais.
Combining a deeply comfortable overnight stay with a chance to dig deeper into the local art scene, this is a totally new take on an arty weekend in Paris.
